The official guides would write, Orchard Road is Singapore's major shopping belt....blah blah blah. Well you should check that place out if its your first trip. If u think u had enough, fear not, there are many more shopping arenas spread all across the island. Ask around for instructions on how to go to these places:

For tourists..besides orchard..the not so mentioned shopping areas....

Comments:

This alternative shopping belt sure beats Orchard Road in many ways. No traffic lights to wait at, air-conditioned all the way. Its pretty tiring to shop though, well, I don't know about the ladies! City Link is also the only underground shopping center in Singapore, as of Jan 2002. Lots of fast-food, eateries along here so no worries. Eating is a national past time. Raffles City is located at Swissotel, in the past known as Westin Stamford so you might wanna check in this hotel on your next trip, saves lots of transportation problems since the City Hall MRT station is located just below the hotel.

Tampines Mall

and

Century Square

Comments:

Another busy shopping arena, these 2 malls are one of the busiest neighbourhood malls. You don't find many tourists shopping here. In the first place, they or you probably won't know about this place. Actually, its easy, right at Raffles City Shopping Center, take an MRT (ask the station control), straight to these two malls,  stop at the Tampines MRT station, takes about 15 to 20mins. And there, follow the crowd and you'll see lots of locals there. 2 cinemas and fast-food restaurants aplenty.

Mustafa Centre

Comments:

You can't miss this mall. Located at the heart of Little India, this is one mall founded by an Indian entrepreneur who name it after himself. Goods are priced fairly but I doubt the quality though, bought some electronic goods there and they seem like 2000 years old! Anyway, check out this place, crowded but worth the squeeze.

Jurong Point

Comments:

A typical neighbourhood shopping mall in Singapore, comes with a cinema. Pretty crowded on weekends. Situated directly in front of Boon Lay MRT station.

IMM

Comments:

This is one of the first few exhibition centres that has now turned obsolute and converted into a shopping mall. Huge bargains at Giant, a large department store. Once visit is pretty enough, any more, u'll find the place a bore!

Clarke Quay

Comments:

This is not really a mall, just some street houses by the quay all spiced up with shops and pubs/restaurants. A favourite nightspot. Great place to take photos at night with pretty good views. Take a boat ride by day and night to view some wonderful sights of Singapore's skyline.

Funan the IT Mall

funan.JPG (9233 bytes)

Comments:

As its name suggests, this is a one-stop place for all your computing needs. Wierd though, the first and second level also consist of department stores that have no connection with IT. Irony? This is not the only place though, Sim Lim Square, another mall just a block away from Little India offers cheaper but quality doubtful products. Choose!

Junction 8

Comments:

This mall is located at the Bishan MRT stop and is one of the busiest neighbourhood malls around. Check out the array of students who loitter around this mall during afternoons. Shop the mall and the neighbouring town centre to taste the local heartland shopping experience!

EastPoint

Comments:

Another not so crowded neighbourhood mall, this shopping mall is located one MRT stop at Simei before Tampines MRT station. Check this place out too, if you are tired of crowds.
